5.2 Project Supervisor Task




Supervisor is the lecturer from Mechanical Engineering Department. The main tasks of the supervisor are as follows:
             i)       To agree or provide the project title, objective and job scope base on the problem background explanation.
             ii)       Monitor the progress of student’s project for the whole semester.
            iii)      Advise and assist students to comply with the requirements of health, safety and ethics in the workplace if appropriate.
            iv)      Advice students if progress of the project or the work does not meet the standard and give recommendation for appropriate action.
             v)      Hold meetings and discussions with students on a regular basis.
            vi)      Guide students to prepare a report in accordance with the prescribed format of writing.
            vii)     Verify the logbook relating to the activities performed by the students on a regular basis.
           viii)     Report or notify coordinator the problem of the student's case under the supervision.
            ix)      Review, edit and respond to student project report within a reasonable time.
             x)      Evaluate the student project results.

7.3 The Text

The text is made up of a number of sections. The major sections of the report normally include, among other things, the following: a)          Introduction This section sets forth the rationale, significance and objectives of the study. It includes details of the background, objectives and scope of project. b)          Literature Review This section includes a fully-referenced review and discussion of previous studies which are relevant to the project. c)          Research Methodology This section gives a detailed description of the research methods and instruments materials used. 7.4 Reference Materials

a)          References and Bibliography Any report which makes use of other researchers’ work, either in direct quotation or by reference, must contain a ‘References’ section listing these sources, If pertinent works have been consulted but are not specifically cited in the text, they should be separately listed as “Bibliography.” This section begins on a fresh page bearing the heading REFERENCES in capital letters, centred without punctuation, about 3.5 cm from the top. The list of references begins four spaces below the heading and is double-spaced between entries but single spaced within each entry. A three-space indentation should be used for entries exceeding a single line. References used in the preparation of project. The method used is APA format.
